NativeLingo
freemiumNativeLingo language learning browser extension helps people learn Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Swedish, or English while reading websites they already use. It replaces a small number of words with level-appropriate translations in the correct grammatical form, so learners build vocabulary through real articles, recipes, news, posts, and other everyday content without leaving the page. Users can take a three-minute level test, choose a learning goal, and read normally on sites such as Reddit, Wikipedia, newspapers, blogs, and Substack. Hovering reveals the original word and pronunciation, while the extension also supports vocabulary learning in YouTube and Netflix subtitles. A daily 90-second spaced repetition review asks learners to type words from memory, with progress tracking, pronunciation, word-list export to Anki or CSV, and support for eight languages. NativeLingo makes language immersion part of an existing reading and viewing routine instead of requiring a separate lesson app. Its context-aware word forms, recall-based reviews, and local browser processing help learners remember useful vocabulary while keeping pages private. Free word swaps are available, with paid plans for reviews and advanced learning features.
